Happy Holidays!
Sunday, January 29th, 2006Finally the semester break is here! This is really the time for me to finish my assignments, and to catch up with my practice. I’ll be playing Schon Rosmarin (Kreisler) for the Performance Seminar after the break ends. I’ve been practising the technique of ‘bouncing’ the bow, in order to play the staccatos in the piece. I really hope everything will go well, and that I won’t be too nervous - I wouldn’t want the bow to be bouncing all over the place! =P
Talking about Performance Seminar, last Friday’s was one of the funniest for me. (And also the worst!). I played twice, the 1st was a song by the Corrs, and the 2nd performance was 2 keroncong songs. The 1st performance was okay (accept for the fact that sometimes I couldn’t even hear myself play because the mike was too high!), but the 2nd one was quite terrible, I mean for the strings section. I video taped the performance. Although it was disappointing, it’s still funny when I watched it. It was really a disaster. The lack of practice was obvious. The semiquavers that we played were all over the place. At times it sounds like stepping inside a haunted house! =P Anyway, it was fun to be playing in a Keroncong ensemble. Hopefully I will get a chance to play again.
Anyways, to conclude this post, I’d like to wish you all, especially the Chinese out there, a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!
